About VSF · Since 2007
We learned operations by running one.
VSF Consulting Services didn't start as a consultancy. It started in 2007 as a working sales operation, and the hard lessons from running it are the foundation of everything we now do for clients.

Founder & Principal Consultant
- Running business operations since 2007
- Consulting on administrative operations since 2018
- Remote-first, working with businesses nationwide
- Direct involvement in every engagement
Val founded VSF in 2007 as VSF Sales, a merchandise business selling across multiple platforms. That meant living inside the unglamorous machinery every business runs on: order handling, inventory records, vendor coordination, customer service queues, and the endless small systems that decide whether a day runs smoothly or falls apart.
The businesses that thrived around us weren't always the ones with the best products. They were the ones whose operations could keep promises at scale. So the obsession became process: documenting how work should flow, cutting steps that added nothing, and building systems that didn't depend on any one person's memory, ours included.
By 2018, helping other owners fix their back offices had quietly become the real business, and VSF Consulting Services made it official. The practice has grown into nine service lines since then, but the point of view hasn't moved: administrative work isn't overhead to tolerate. Done right, it's the infrastructure that makes growth possible.
Big ideas, real impact. That has been the standard since day one.
The story
Nearly two decades of running things better
- 2007
VSF Sales opens for business
VSF begins as a multi-platform sales operation, managing listings, inventory, fulfillment, and customer service across marketplaces. Running that operation, and constantly rebuilding it to run leaner, becomes the training ground for everything that follows.
- 2018
The rebrand to VSF Consulting Services
After years of refining our own back office and helping other business owners untangle theirs, the focus shifts officially: VSF becomes a consulting practice dedicated to administrative operations.
- Now
Nine service lines, one method
VSF supports established businesses nationwide across audits, process improvement, documentation, technology, training, executive support, and professional business websites, all run on the same four-phase method.
The VSF Method
How every engagement runs
One method across all nine service lines: understand the real problem, design the right fix, put it to work, and make it stick. It keeps engagements predictable and keeps your team in the loop the whole way.
- 01
Assess
We start by understanding how work really gets done, not how the org chart says it does. Interviews, document review, and workflow observation surface the friction, gaps, and costs hiding in daily operations.
- 02
Design
With a clear diagnosis, we design the fix: redesigned workflows, right-sized systems, policies, or support structures tailored to your business. No off-the-shelf playbooks, because your operation isn't off the shelf.
- 03
Implement
We roll up our sleeves and put the design to work alongside your team. Tools get configured, processes go live, documents get written, and problems get solved as they surface.
- 04
Embed
Change that depends on us is not finished. We train your people, document the system, and coach through the transition so the improvement holds long after the engagement ends.
What we believe
The standards behind the work.
We do the work, not just the deck
Recommendations are the starting point, not the deliverable. We stay through implementation, so the new process, system, or program is actually running when we're done.
Built on real operating experience
VSF started in 2007 running multi-platform sales operations, not in a lecture hall. We rebuilt our own workflows for years before we started fixing anyone else’s.
Knowledge transfer is the point
Every engagement builds your team's capability. We document, train, and coach so improvements survive long after the engagement ends.
Flexible engagements
Short-term diagnostics, defined projects, or ongoing retained support. You get the level of help the problem actually calls for, and nothing you don't need.
Ways to work together
Engagements sized to the problem
No forced retainers and no one-size packages. The shape of the engagement follows the shape of the work.
Short-term diagnostics
A focused audit or assessment with findings and a roadmap. Fast, self-contained, and often the smartest first step.
Defined projects
A scoped engagement with a fixed price and timeline: a process redesign, a documentation build, a system implementation, a website.
Retained support
Ongoing help embedded in your operation, like executive assistance or project support, that flexes as your needs change.
Let's talk about your operation.
A consultation is a conversation, not a pitch. Bring the thing that frustrates you most about how the business runs, and we'll tell you honestly what we'd do about it.
We respond within one business day. Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Central.
